This is me

I’m Dawn Ibanez. Author, mother, anime and video game addict. Most of the time, in that order too.

About me. I never know what to write here. Do you want to know about what started me writing or do you just want a quick view of who I am.

I’ll start with the quick stuff. I am the author of the Maxwell Investigations series, Murder of Crows series and Dragon’s Awakening. I’m local to the suburbs of Maryland where I stay with my family. We don’t have any pets, but I used to have beta fish. They have all passed on to help with the search to find Nemo (yes, I actually used that to explain their deaths to my daughter. She was 3 when the first one died).

A little about my history. I grew up on Staten Island. My father is an Army Vet and my mother is a Southern ball-buster. I have 2 brothers, 1 sister, and (what sometimes seems like) 1000 cousins. I always read. Even to the point that I would comb the TV Guide and map out what to watch. When I was in Junior High School, I started writing. My first story was a western that died when my basement flooded, taking a TON of my old stuff with it.

It wasn’t until High School that I met one of the loves of my life (yeah, I’m going there), anime. I started watching as much as I could. One movie I watched, I wasn’t happy with the ending, so I wrote a continuing story. It wasn’t until I was in college that I found a name for what I was doing… writing fan fiction.

So for years, I was writing fan fiction for various fandoms. Posting them online and then I decided to write my own stuff. Since then, I have taken to writing Paranormal Romance with strong male AND female leads. I like quirky things that buck against the norm, and that’s what I try to put out for everyone.
