Taking Time

Standard

Hey everyone!

I’m just reporting in to let you all know what I’m up to. It seems like I’m always running around and never getting anything done. So here’s where I’m going to drop a quick line that should get everyone up to date.

As far as Precarious Possessions goes, I’m finished with writing it. I’ve put it aside for a while so when I go back to read it over I’ll have a better chance of seeing what’s really there and not what I thought I put (I do this with every title now).

As for the next book in Maxwell Investigations, I can’t be sure when that will be coming. I have a lot of plans for both Barry and Lily, and I want to do them right. So in order to do them justice, I’ll have to come back to them, maybe some time in the summer.

Right now, I’ve gone back to working on my Balance story line. It’s been a little hectic. I have written out and re-written that first novel so many times that it hadn’t been working for me. Now I think I’ve found a combination that will work. These characters are actually likable.

Another thing that I’m finding that I will have to start making time for is myself. Between writing, baby sitting and looking for a job, I have yet to find time for me to unwind. I think that’s also about to change. Tomorrow I have to go to the beauty parlor to get my hair done. Then I’ll end up typing what I have of my WIP.

So, that’s pretty much all from me for now. Just my little ramblings on what I’m doing. As always, feel free to drop a note. I’ll talk with you all later!

Peace out People!!!

Valentine’s Day…

Standard

Hello my dears. I want to start this blog this morning (afternoon really) wishing everyone a Happy and Blessed Valentine’s Day.

I personally don’t have anything planned for tonight. I don’t know if many of my readers know this, but I’m single. I know, it’s horrid and should never have happened. I have a 9 year old daughter and I’m also a romance writer, how dare I not have a husband, or even a boyfriend to speak of!!!!

Truth is, I dare because I can.

After I finished my first novel ever, Dragon’s Awakening, my mother told all of her sisters and brothers that I wrote a book. One of my aunts asked what kind of book was it. I told her simply, I write Paranormal Romance. The look on her face was priceless. She was horrified not because it was paranormal, but she looked at me and said “You’re not married, you don’t know anything about romance.”

I laughed, pointed at my daughter and replied “I think I might have a clue.”

I’m not saying sex and romance are the same thing. They aren’t. But I was engaged to my daughter’s father for some time. I have had boyfriends in the past, and when everything is said and done, I’m a girl (shocking, I know). I think I may know I would find romantic (and if I can’t, that’s what girlfriends and facebook are for).

That being said, I’ve been having a hard time this V-day. I have friends (that are married) and my daughter (who is 9) and my father (yeah) that have all wished me a happy v-day and told me that they love me. And I adore them all for it.

But it isn’t the same as having someone deliver flowers to you. Or take you out to dinner. Or even surprise you with doing the dishes and vacuuming the house. So I’ve been down. Today has been the first time since last Thursday that I’ve been able to listen to Adele, or even “The One that Got Away” by Katy Perry without breaking down into a sobbing mess (yeah, imagine how my 2 year old nephew felt in the back of the car when Someone Like You came on… not good.)

So on this Valentine’s day, I’m not going to buy into the cards and the candy (well, there WAS this heart shaped box of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups)… and I’m just going to enjoy my day. I have the Phantom of the Opera to call me his Angel of Music. I have my nephews to drive me crazy. I have my daughter to tease about having a non-existent boyfriend. I’ll be okay.

So what was the point of me writing this blog??? Well, I know I’m not the only one that’s alone today. And without being all Inspirational on you, I want to let you know, it’s okay! It’s just Tuesday.

Till next time… Have a kick @$$ day!

Phase 1 is DONE!!! Now on to Phase 2….

Standard

For those of you not following me on Twitter, or Like me on Facebook, I want to tell you…

PRECARIOUS POSSESSIONS IS DONE!!!!

I literally just finished it. It’s about 9:30 at night and I still haven’t eaten dinner yet. But right about now I want to PARTY!!!! Madison and Troy were a hard pair to write, and while getting them together was easy, dealing with the things that happened around them wasn’t.

Now as to what’s next, I need to start on Barry’s book. He’s the second eldest of the Maxwell family and is a general magic user. There’s a lot that’s going on with him, and his heroine that I may get started with them tomorrow afternoon. Right about now, I have to call in a couple of favors to friends of mine so I can get help editing.

I will also keep you guys posted on the cover. Tia and I are working on it, and right about now, we’re both pretty excited about it.

Anyway! I just wanted to keep you all posted on what I was doing!!! I’m going to go back to jumping around my living room now!!! I’m finished…. I’m finished… I’M FINISHED!!!!!!!

Later People!!!!
Dawn 🙂
